Dear Participants of the MRO 2005
I am pleased to welcome all participants to the Malaysia Robot Olympiad (MRO) 2005 at the Auditorium Perdana Siswa, University Malaya.
The MRO 2005 is a culmination of many hours of planning and organising of preliminary competitions at regional levels. The support and enthusiasm shown by various parties - the Advisory Committee, the competing teams and their schools, the Research Consortium for Industrial Science, Engineering and Technology (RCFISET), University of Malaya and the organisers have been a motivating force throughout. Their efforts will go a long way in creating interest, encouraging creativity and strengthening problem solving and social skills among students. The MRO 2005 is a fun and inspired way of building these skills among students to help them achieve success in their further studies and future careers.
The MRO 2005 creates a platform to help students from diverse backgrounds build a solid foundation in maths, science, technology, design and ICT. This competition challenges students' thinking skills and creativity through problem-solving and investigation. Therefore, I urge Malaysian school students to actively participate in robotic competitions such as the MRO 2005 to foster the skills needed for success in the 21st century.
I take this opportunity to thank members of the Research Consortium for Industrial Science, Engineering and Technology (RCFISET), University of Malaya for their valuable efforts in helping to organise this event. I would also like to express my gratitude to the members of the Advisory Committee for their support and encouragement throughout. In addition, I would like to extend my appreciation to the organisers of the MRO 2005 - SASBADI SDN. BHD. and LEGO Education whom have worked tirelessly to make MRO 2005 a success. I applaud the efforts of all parties concerned to make this event an unforgettable learning experience for all participants.
I would like to wish all participants good luck and great fun. I urge them all to rise to the challenge ahead of them and make this event a great learning experience.
With Best Wishes
Dato' Prof Dr Hashim Yaacob
Chairman of the MRO 2005 Advisory Committee
