Theme: SAVE OUR PLANET! (PRIMARY & SECONDARY SCHOOL)
Rules and Regulations
- Each team should comprise 3 students with 1 teacher as their mentor.
- The competition will be categorised into 2 different age groups:
- Primary school (7 ~ 12 years old)
- Secondary school (13 ~ 18 years old)
- Teams participating in this event will work to create robots based on the theme “Save Our Planet!”
- There is no restriction on the use of non-LEGO® materials. However, the final project must include at least 50% of LEGO® materials and must be operated or controlled by RCX intelligent brick or NXT intelligent brick.
- Only the official LEGO® Education programming languages in any version for example, RoboLab® and LEGO® NXT Education Software, are allowed to be used.
- The size of the whole project including booth decorations must not exceed 2 meters X 2 meters.
- Each team will go through several processes as follows:
- Test and make the final robot assembly at a designated location.
- Decorate the booth with posters or anything that is related to the theme.
- Demonstrate the project to the judges.
- Question and Answer (Q & A) session with the judges.
- The team should decorate the booth with at least one poster not less than 120cm height X 90cm width, introducing the project together with the success video clip.
- A written report must be submitted to the judges, summarising the whole project during the setup time. The descriptions must be supported by pictures showing different angles of the robot creation and examples of the program.
- In the 10-minute session with the judges, 7 minutes will be given to the team for demonstration and 3 minutes for a Q & A session with the judges.
- Criteria for judging are as follows:
- Creative and Original:
- Theme conformity
- Appearance, uniqueness and interactive behavior.
- An artistic or creative robot will have a positive impact on judging.
- Technical and Functionality:
- Engineering and stability.
- Repeatable movement.
- Presentation and Team Work:
- Clear demonstration and explanation by the presenter.
- Project documentation/written report.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge on all the aspects of the project.
- High team spirit in creating the design and building the project.
