Rules and Regulations
  • Each match will last for 120 seconds.
  • This match consists of 2 missions, which are the ‘MAIN MISSION’ and the ‘SUB MISSION’. The ‘MAIN MISSION’ MUST be completed first before the ‘SUB MISSION’ can be implemented.
  • MAIN MISSION – The robot MUST carry Coal, Bio fuel and Solar Panel to the respective ‘Power Stations’ and avoid the URANIUM resource area, and then return to the ‘FACTORY’ (Start Box) after completion.
  • SUB MISSION – The robot may reload objects to get bonus points.
  • The robot MUST start from the ‘FACTORY’. Any part of the robot must not exceed the ‘FACTORY’ (Start Box) limits BEFORE it starts. It must take the object from the ‘SOURCE AREA’ and move the object to a specific ‘POWER PLANT’ and MUST return to the ‘FACTORY’ (Start Box) after completing the MAIN MISSION.
  • The robot will be measured before transformation in the Start Box.
  • The robot cannot cross or return to the ‘FACTORY’ (Start Box) while carrying the objects and penalty will be given if the robot touches the ‘FACTORY’ (Start Box) area.
  • At the ‘FACTORY’, there is a barrier on its left and on its right. The robot cannot touch the barrier. A Penalty of 10 points will be given if the robot touches the barrier.
  • RELOAD: The robot is allowed to reload objects (start its bonus mission) ONLY after its main mission is completed and the judge ONLY reload new objects in the ‘SOURCE AREA’ after all the ‘POWER PLANTS’ are loaded.
  • MISPLACE: When the robot misplaces an object in the wrong ‘POWER PLANT’, the judge will return the object to the original place and no points will be given.
  • MISS OBJECT: When the robot misses the object outside the ‘SOURCE AREA’ during its operation, the judge will return the object to the original place and no points will be given for the repeated step.
  • Restart :
    • Restart MUST be done in the ‘FACTORY’ (Start Box) area and the contestant is ONLY allowed to run the robot if it does not exceed the ‘FACTORY’ (Start Box) limits.
    • At any time during the operation, if the robot is touched by the contestant, no matter where the robot is (except in the start box), it is considered STOPPED and the robot must immediately be returned to the ‘FACTORY’ (Start Box) area. 10 points will be deducted from the bonus points for every touch.
  • After the mission is completed SUCCESSFULLY, the robot is allowed to continue its mission to get bonus points if the time limit is not over. However, the contestant may say ‘STOP’ if he/she does not wish to continue.
  • ONLY a robot which has completed the main mission can carry out ‘SUB MISSION’.
  • The main mission is considered COMPLETE if all the objects have been successfully placed inside the respective ‘POWER STATION’ areas.
  • The term ‘incomplete mission’ or GAME OVER is defined as follow:
    • The robot is out of the playing field.
    • The robot fails after finishing several missions.
    • The robot is unable to finish all the main missions.
    • The robot cannot finish the main missions when the time is up. In this situation, the robot can get mission points for its finished missions but CANNOT get time points.
    • If the robot carries the ‘URANIUM’ resource out of the box completely, ‘Game over’ will be announced.
    • If the robot cannot finish any single mission when time is up, it will get 0 points.
  • The contestant with the highest point is considered the winner. In the event of a tie, the lightest robot will win the competition.
Scoring
  • Mission points:
Scoring is according to the location of the object after time is over.
    • Move objects – 10 points
Each object is worth 10 points once it is moved out of the ‘SOURCE AREA’. The object must be COMPLETELY out of the ‘SOURCE AREA’ for the robot to get its point. The robot will get 0 points if any part of the object overlaps the border of the ‘SOURCE AREA’.
    • Move the object to the specified ‘POWER STATION’ – 20 points
Each object is worth 20 points once it is moved to specified location. The object must COMPLETELY in the ‘POWER STATION’ for the robot to get its points. The contestant may repeat the movement before time is over.
    • Return to ‘FACTORY’ – 10 points
The robot will get 10 point while it returns successfully to ‘FACTORY’ (start box) ONLY after the MAIN MISSION is completed. 0 points will be given if the robot returns to the ‘FACTORY’ without finishing the MAIN MISSION.
    • Penalty
      • Any part of the moved object exceeds the border line of the designated area (‘POWER STATION’) – minus 10 points
      • Any part of the robot touching the URANIUM area – minus 10 points.
      • When the robot touches or returns to the ‘FACTORY’ (start box) area while carrying the objects – minus 10 points
  • Time Points
The robot will get time points ONLY if it can finish the MAIN MISSION, returns to the ‘FACTORY’ (Start Box) and says ‘STOP’ to the timekeeper. If the contestant does not say ‘STOP’ to the timekeeper or if the timekeeper does not see any signal from the contestant to stop the match, the match is still considered to be running and the contestant might lose points. For a SUB MISSION, the contestant is ONLY allowed to say STOP when the robot touches the ‘FACTORY’ area. Calculation of the team’s time points is as follows:
Time points = (120 sec – Total time taken to complete missions)
    Example:
The robot finishes its mission in 30.25,
    Time points = 120 sec – 30.25 sec = 89.75 points.
  • Bonus points
Within 120 seconds, if the contestant wants to repeat the mission, bonus points will be given. 100 points will be given automatically to the autonomous robot, which means that the contestant does not touch the robot throughout the match. Otherwise, 10 points will be deducted each time the robot is touched.
Scoring System Summary
Mission Points

Example showing the calculation of mission points and time points

Example 1: Autonomous Robot without SUB MISSION
The robot finishes the mission autonomously within 35.9 seconds and the contestant says ‘STOP’ to refuse the repetition. So, the collected points are:
Mission Points (100) + Time Points (120-35.9) + Bonus Points (100) = 284.1 points
Bonus Points = Autonomous robot points = 100 points

Example 2: Non-autonomous Robot without SUB MISSION
The contestant touches the robot 3 times while it is moving. The robot then finishes the mission within 18.9 seconds and contestant says ‘STOP’ to refuse for repetition. So, the collected points are:
Mission Points (100) + Time Points (120-18.9) + Bonus Points (70) = 271.1 points
Bonus Points = 100 – 30 (The robot is touched 3 times) = 70 points

Example 3: Non-autonomous Robot completes one SUB MISSION
Non-autonomous robot finishes the ‘MAIN MISSION’ within 39.7 seconds. It starts the ‘SUBMISSION’ and continue until completion within 95.7 seconds and the contestant says ‘STOP’ to refuse the next repetition. The number of times the robot is touched is 5. So, the collected points are:
Mission Points (100) + Time Points (120-95.7) + Bonus Points (240) = 364.3 points
Bonus Points = Complete SUBMISSION (190) + Autonomous Points (50) = 240 points

Example 4: Autonomous Robot Doing SUBMISSION on SOLAR POWER PLANT
The autonomous robot finishes the MAIN MISSION within 85 seconds and then does the SUB MISSION. When time is over, the robot is able to load one SOLAR PANEL into the ‘SOLAR’ power plant. So, the collected points are:
Mission Points (100) + Time Points (0) + Bonus Points (160) = 260 points
Bonus Points = Loading SOLAR PANEL (60) + Autonomous Points (100) = 160

Example 5: Non-autonomous Robot Moving Two SOLAR PANELS in One SUB MISSION
The non-autonomous robot finishes the MAIN MISSION within 35.3 seconds and then does the SUBMISSION, but after loading the SOLAR PANELS into the ‘SOLAR’ power plant two times, the contestant says ‘STOP’ to refuse continuing. The time is 56.7 seconds and the contestant touches the robot 3 times. So, the collected points are:
Mission Points (100) + Time Points (120-56.7) + Bonus Points (190) = 353.3 points
Bonus Points = Loading SOLAR PANEL (120) + Autonomous Points (70) = 190 points

Example 6: Incomplete Robot
The robot fails without completing the main mission and the contestant says ‘STOP’ within 15.9 seconds. The moved object is only inside the ‘SOLAR’ and the ‘THERMAL with FGD’ power plant while the Coal is outside the ‘SOURCE AREA’. So, the collected points are:
Mission Points (70) + Time Points (0) = 70 points
